Tanami North
Overview
The Tanami North Project Area is strategically important to Prodigy Gold, located 150km to the south of Lajamanu and 470km west of Tennant Creek.
The Project covers an area of approximately 2,415km², consisting of
- 6 Granted Exploration Titles – 742km²
- 5 Exploration Application Titles – 1,673km²
- 1 Mineral Lease application covering the Hyperion Mineral Resource
The Tanami North Project hosts two current Mineral Resources at
- Tregony – 2.0Mt @ 1.2g/t for 80Koz¹
- Hyperion – 9.66Mt @ 1.4g/t Au for 435Koz²
- Total inventory – 11.7Mt @ 1.4g/t Au for 515Koz
There are several prospects located within the project area, related to the regional Supplejack Shear Zone. Prospects such as Brokenwood and Pandora on EL9250, Mark’s Rise on EL32055, Stoney Ridge on ML34047 and the Boco prospect on EL31331 require further exploration work to advance the understanding of the potential of these areas.
The Tanami North Project also has great infrastructure available with a camp located near the Tregony Deposit and access granted using the Lajamanu Road and Station tracks. .

Key Deposits and Prospects
There are several key projects that occur at the Tanami North Project, these include:
EL9250
- Hyperion – Current Mineral Resource
- Brokenwood – Prospect with previous surface sampling and drilling
- Pandora – Prospect with previous drilling
- Stoney Ridge – Prospect with previous surface sampling and drilling
EL31331
EL32055
- Mark’s Rise – Prospect located in favourable setting with limited previous work completed
There are other exploration targets requiring further work, such as The Grange, however these listed above are the current priority targets for the Tanami North Project Area
Regional Geological Setting
The western portion of Project Area is dominated by ‘cover’ sequences such as the Antrim Plateau Volcanics (described as a tholeiitic basalt, porphyritic and non-porphyritic basalts; minor tuffaceous sands, lithic arenite and stromatilitic cherts) and Gardiner Sandstone (described as sublithic arenite, medium to coarse quartz arenite, basal conglomerates, minor siltstones, cross bedding and medium to thin bedded).
Work completed by Prodigy Gold in conjunction with the CSIRO have made a re-interpretation of stratigraphy for EL9250. They determined the major lithological units of a thick sequence of mafic volcanic (varying basalt/dolerite/gabbro), volcaniclastic and clastic sedimentary rocks, which possess distinctive magnetic and gravity signatures central to the tenement belong to the Mt Charles Formation. This is geochemically similar lithology to that found in the Central Tanami Project Joint Venture (TAM:NST) deposits. Killi Killi beds appear to be fault bound north and east of the Mt Charles Sequence. These are mostly sandstones and siltstones that have a non to weakly magnetic signature. Further to the east lies another high magnetic signature package. From a previous geochemical review this unit is interpreted to be Dead Bullock sediments (and dolerite sill).
Project History
Area was originally applied for by MJ Kidd in 1987 and has been worked on by Kidd in a joint venture with Messenger, Dominion Gold, Acacia Resources and AngloGold. Work carried out has included regional RAB sampling, and follow up RAB, RC and diamond drilling, which resulted in an initial definition of a 55,000-ounce gold resource..
The title was managed by Suplejack Pty Ltd (a wholly owned subsidiary of Ord River Resources) from 2008 until the decision was made to sell the project to Prodigy Gold in 2015. Prodigy Gold gained land access to the project in 2021.
From 1989 – 2000 Zapopan held the area, which now covers EL9250. During this period Zapopan completed first pass surface sampling and drilling.
Between 2001 and 2009, Otter Gold NL and the Newmont completed several phases of surface sampling, drilling and aeromagnetic surveys.
Newmont sold the project to Prodigy Gold in 2010, with Prodigy active on the tenement since that time.
Camp Scale Opportunities for Discovery
Several exploration targets are located within close proximity to the projects Mineral Resources. These include:
- Boco – Located 8km to the north of Tregony on EL31331. Limited drilling completed with mostly shallow RAB drilling reported from the project area which is located close to the regional Suplejack Shear Zone
- Mark’s Rise – Located between Tregony and Hyperion on EL32055. Regional geophysics highlights an anti-form structure around the Suplejack Shear Zone. Limited work completed by previous tenement holders
- Stoney Ridge – Located 1.3km to southwest of Hyperion on MLA34047. Surface sampling with peak results in rock-chips of 15.3g/t Au¹ reported for the project close to the Hyperion Mineral Resource
- Brokenwood – Located 7.5km to south of Hyperion on EL9250. Rocks chips taken in 2023 reported up to 6.04g/t Au1 and drill results of 6m @ 8.1g/t Au² in hole HYRC23010
- Pandora – Located 6.5km to south of Hyperion on EL9250. 2 holes drilled in 2024, following up on historical results of 9m @ 6.3g/t Au in hole PARC100003³
