Stoney Ridge Prospect

Overview

  • Interpreted to be underlain by folded Killi Killi Formation
  • Rock chip samples up to 15.27g/t Au1
  • RAB drilling results of up to 3.75g/t Au over 3.0 meters2

The Stoney Ridge Prospect is located on the western half of ML34047, with the Hyperion Deposits located 750 meters to the northeast. The area has beensubject to limited exploration and drilling.

Due to the proximity to the Hyperion Mineral Resource the Stoney Ridge Prospect is a high priority target for future exploration on EL9250 and ML34047.

Stoney Ridge Exploration History

Stoney Ridge was first recorded by Zapopan in 1992/93 where several rock chips were collected with no significant results, but abundant quartz veining was reported. This was followed in 1993/94 when a regional RAB drilling program identified extensions. Two northwest trending auriferous veins sets were identified (0.4m @ 11.6g/t Au maximum)2. Follow up RAB drilling in the northern areas found anomalous gold values associated with quartz veining in a west north-west trending fault.

Otter Gold completed the first work on EL9250 at Stoney Ridge in 2004 with holes STRB0416 & STRB0418, located 25m apart. Results returned 9m @1.2g/t Au from 24m to EOH & 6m @ 0.6g/t Au from 15m to EOH respectively2. Results from a single traverse of 20m spaced RAB drill holes intersected a >100m wide zone of Gold anomalism. A maximum result of 6.0m @ 3g/t Au from 27m was returned from the last hole drilled on the end of line.

Newmont continued exploration around Stoney Ridge in 2005 with 26 RAB holes drilled for 1,206m completed. Little fieldwork was completed on the project until it was purchased by Prodigy Gold in 2010.

In 2023 Prodigy completed surface sampling and mapping. A rock chip sample assayed 15.27g/t Au1. Two RC holes were drilled that returned inconclusive results.

Stoney Ridge Geology

A preliminary interpretation of aeromagnetic and detailed gravity data indicates that the Stoney Ridge Prospect sits within a subtle magnetic anomaly that appears to be folded with the prospect sitting within a fold nose. Gravity data indicates that the prospect sits on the western margin of a gravity “high”. This is the same gravity anomaly that flanks the Hyperion Deposits. Folding is also indicated in the gravity data.

Its setting would indicate that Stoney Ridge may be an extension of the Hyperion Deposit. The anomalous gravity area may be underlain by dolerite.
