Casa Prospect

Overview

  • Underlain by Killi Killi Formation that is intruded by mafic dykes that display a magnetic signature
  • Rock chip sampling by North Flinders Mines (“NFM”) in 1998 reported results up to 13.5g/t Au
  • 2016 rock chip sampling at surface has returned results up to19.9g/t Au²
  • Shallow RAB drilling may not have penetrated a gold depleted zone

The Casa Prospect is located approximately 12km southeast of Old Pirate Deposit on EL31291 and was discovered by regional geochemical sampling over an aeromagnetic anomaly.

The area is interpreted to be underlain by Killi Killi Formation that is intruded by mafic dykes that display a magnetic signature. Follow-up rock chip and lag sampling in 1994 defined an arsenic anomaly over an area 2.5km x 600m and identified two N-Strending vein systems.

Casa Exploration History

Discovered by Normandy in 1994 through reconnaissance lag sampling over an aeromagnetic anomaly. Follow-up rock chip and lag sampling defined an arsenic anomaly over an area 2.5km x 600m and identified two N-S trending vein systems.

Intensive lag and rock chip sampling and vacuum drilling was completed in 1995 – maximum rock chip was 13.5g/t Au¹ and the best result from a bedrock drill sample was 0.46g/t Au1. A 1996 exploration program comprised a 44-hole RAB drilling program. Best result was 6m @ 0.68g/t Au, including 3m @ 1.2g/t (CARB044)¹. Rock chip sampling by NFM in 1998 reported results up to 13.5g/t Au¹.

Visible gold was observed at 2 locations during mapping in 2011. In 2012 at the Casa Prospect vein sampling returned ten elevated gold assay results with a maximum result of 2.77g/t Au².

A total of 1,100 rock chip samples of outcropping and sub cropping quartz veins were collected by Prodigy in 2015. The maximum assay result returned was 5.81g/t Au from sample W246446³.

Drill testing by Prodigy in 2015 over the soil anomalism intersected 3m averaging 3.52g/t Au. Subsequent reconnaissance work has located additional outcropping quartz veins nearby, with visible gold grains up to 1mm associated with the northern edge of an elongated magnetic anomaly. Rock chip sampling at surface returned results up to 33.9g/t Au.

Casa Geology

The Casa Prospect is interpreted to be underlain by Killi Killi Formation that is intruded by mafic dykes that display a magnetic signature. There are outcropping sections of the Killi Killi Formation, but generally the area is largely covered by unconsolidated regolith material.

The regional mineralisation hypothesis is that the gold appears to be associated with multiple narrow high-grade veins, which don’t tend to outcrop, whereas the white, bucky, exposed quartz is generally devoid of gold.

Normandy's costean sampling and mapping defined mineralised widths and preliminary structural and lithological controls for gold and arsenic anomalism. It appeared that synclinal closures in the folded host rock sequence are potential structural traps for gold deposition.
