Vampire Prospect
Overview
- Rock chip sampling by Otter Exploration produced results up to 83g/t Au¹
- Average gold grade of 14g/t Au along a 60m outcropping quartz vein²
- Initially targeted due to its historic high-grade gold results at surface including 161g/t, 157g/t, 83g/t and 37.21g/t Au²
- Historic drilling returned maximum 1m assays of 8.18, 4.16,3.59 and 2.27g/t gold³
The Vampire Prospect is located approximately 15km southeast of Old Pirate Deposite on EL28327 and is underlain by Century Formation of the Ware Group, which lies unconformably above Killi Killi Formation.
Originally discovered by Otter Exploration, previously called the Maximus Prospect, through regional soil sampling in the region(400m x 400m grid spacing). Initial RAB drilling was then completed in 2001 highlighting the potential of the vein system for further exploration.
Vampire Exploration History
Otter Exploration completed 39 RAB holes for 3,094m of drilling at Vampire in 2001. The drilling was focused on testing soil and rock chip anomalies.
- Significant results include¹:
- PCRB008 – 4m @ 1.66g/t Au (30-34m)
- PCRB010 – 2m @ 8.18g/t Au (8-10m)
- PCRB013 – 8m @ 2.28g/t Au (12-20m)
- PCRB017 – 2m @ 1.43g/t Au (8-10m)
- PCRB028 – 2m @ 2.27g/t Au (62-64m)
Drilling by Prodigy in 2015 reported the following significant results²:
- VMAC100009 - 3m @ 2.29g/t Au (51-54m)
- VMAC100001 - 3m @ 1.55g/t Au (18-21m)
- VMAC100023 - 3m @ 1.37g/t Au (18-21m)
- VMAC100001 - 3m @ 1.23g/t Au (60-63m)
Drilling results at Vampire do not reflect the high-grade surface sampling results so further work will be required to target future drilling at this prospect.

Vampire Geology
The Vampire Prospect consists of quartz veins hosted primarily in a sandstone sedimentary sequence. The exploration campaign discovered visible gold in surface sampling, and systematic longitudinal channel sampling of veins revealed a high-grade structure approximately 60m long with variable widths between 20cm and 60cm.
The Vampire Prospect area was initially targeted due to its historic high grade gold results at surface along with geological mapping to suggest a similar geological setting to the Old Pirate Deposit. The high-grade gold assays sit within a 1.3km semi continuous soil gold anomaly highlighting a NE trend, which runs roughly parallel to the nearby Pargee Fault/fold limb.
Early in 2015 the site was subjected to mapping and sampling and confirmed high-grade gold at surface, located within quartz veins within Ware Group rocks. Geological mapping highlighted folded Ware Group rocks with Killi Killi Formation within the core of the fold. The Killi Killi Formation provided a conceptual target due to its favourable structural position, and since the Killi Killi Formation has proven to be a prospective host rock for mineralisation within the Tanami region.
